Stockholm is packed full of amazing cafés and restaurants along with plenty of great healthy options for those looking to perhaps offset excesses elsewhere. Here Danielle Copperman, model and founder of Qnola, shares her top picks.

Snickarbacken7
Snickarbacken7 in the centre of Stockholm is a café, gallery and lifestyle concept store all rolled into one. Found nestled down a popular side street, Snickarbacken7 is known locally for its fantastic seasonal menu and expertly made coffee. For breakfast, the café serves a mean smoothie bowl – think banana, mango and mint with coconut and pomegranate – with nourishing salads at lunch including quinoa, roasted beetroot, white bean puree and smoked salmon. Even if you’re not hungry, it’s well worth a visit just to check out the Scandi homewares in the store!

Maholo
Run by a group of young creative ladies, Maholo (formerly known as Hälsocafet) is a fuss-free, bright vegan cafe that has everything from pitaya bowls to falafel and cake on the menu. The food is all super fresh and where possible, the girls source produce from local businesses making it ethical too. If raw cakes, buddha bowls, matcha smoothies and cold-brew coffee with a side of tattoos and friendly staff is your thing, you’ll fit right in. They have a cute outside terrace for when the suns shining too, get there early though or you’ll be elbowing your way past hungry locals for a spot.

Greasy Spoon
Not the healthiest, but definitely one of the best. I’m weak for Greasy Spoon’s smoked salmon rosti with beetroot hollandaise though on a recent visit the horchata porridge (oats cooked in almond milk with banana, berries & pecans) also went down a treat. If you’re feeling indulgent or have a real sweet tooth, I’ve been told that the pancakes are particularly good.

Kaffeverket
Serving a selection of gluten-free and vegan cakes, traditional Swedish pastries and more-ish vegan salads – I love Kaffeverket’s fresh, daily changing menu and and laid-back atmosphere. The decor is typically Scandi: think white tiled walls, hand drawn blackboards and marble tables, it’s cool but unpretentious and a great spot to enjoy a chilled breakfast.

Kalf & Hansen
Kalf & Hansen is one of those simple but familiar places that you find yourself going back to time and time again. Bridging a gap between supermarket food and restaurant quality meals, the Nordic inspired ‘fast food’ menu is refreshingly wholesome and made using the best quality ingredients. The types of dish on offer stay the same year round but the ingredients change depending on what’s in season and locally available; making the most of mother nature. The icing on the cake? Everything is dairy-free, gluten-free and 100% organic.

Gretas
If you’re a Wes Anderson fan, you’ll love the pastel pink vibes at Gretas cafe – the decor is a dreamy combination of wicker furniture, retro 20s geometric light fixtures and clashing printed tiles and upholstery. Part of the Haymarket by Scandic hotel, Gretas is a classy but calm place to sit, enjoy breakfast and watch the world go by. Though the portions aren’t particularly big, the all-day menu is packed with flavour and features usual breakfast suspects including rye, avocado, smoked salmon and granola. Gretas is a playful, atmospheric spot – great for brunch with the girls when you’re feeling fancy.

Hermans
Panoramic views across Stockholm with a hammock-filled garden and tasty homemade vegetarian food make Hermans one of my must-visit places whenever I’m in Sweden. The buffet-style food is all organic and made in house – think big salads, breads, gratin, stews and vegan dessert for pudding. If you’re visiting in the Summer months, I’d highly recommend a visit to Hermans for one of their famous garden BBQ’s – a real Stockholm highlight.
