Here’s seven new boutique hotels in Italy we’re happy to welcome to Chic Retreats:
A medieval village located in the heart of Tuscany’s Val d’Arno, Il Borro is set among some truly outstanding natural beauty as well as the famous vineyards and olive groves of Chianti. Guests here will be spoilt for choice, with suites, villas and farmhouses available to stay in each boasting its original character and decorated in a classic Tuscan style. In the resort there’s a spa and wellbeing centre, gym, tennis courts and infinity pool, while there’s plenty of golf courses, truffle hunting experiences, wine tastings and cookery courses on offer nearby.
Overlooking one of the most scenic Italian lakes, Lake Maggiore, Grand Hotel Majestic is a stunning boutique hotel, promising fabulous views of the nearby islands as well as the Piedmont coastline. The striking gardens of Villa Taranto are just a short walk away, while guests can also soak up the sun at the hotel’s own private beach, relax at the wellness centre, work out at the gym or take a dip in the indoor heated pool. On-site restaurant La Beola also offers incredible views out across the lake, as well as a mouth-watering menu using only local ingredients and an excellent wine list to match.
Located in the trendy medieval Trastevere quarter of Rome, just a few minutes’ walk from the Vatican, Buonanotte Garibaldi is a stylish and artistic boutique B&B. Owner Luisa has decorated almost every wall of this hotel with her artwork, the result being a warm but unique interior which has proved to be a hit with reviewers and celebrities alike. Even more of her artwork can be admired in the studio, and there’s also a quiet sitting room and courtyard perfect for relaxing in with a glass of Prosecco. A hearty breakfast is served each morning in the dining room, and there’s a host of attractions, shops, restaurants and bars nearby.
In the heart of Puglia’s sun-kissed Salento Peninsula lies Relais Masseria Petrusella, a perfect example of a traditional masseria ideal for families and couples. Decorated in a simple yet stylish fashion, each room is also equipped with its own kitchen. Just a short drive away you’ll find the coast, lined with golden sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, while the Alimini Lakes are also great for enjoying a dip or a relaxing day out in a canoe. Porto Miggiano is also just a few miles away, and is home to a fascinating variety attractions including a Romanesque church, 16th century castle and the Zinzulusa Caves.

Complete with a spa offering invigorating treatments, a pool, a children’s play area and an on-site organic restaurant, this hotel is perfect for all ages. Consisting of a vast farm resort in the heart of Le Marche’s lush and verdant landscape, you’ll immediately be charmed by the pink-walled original farm buildings and the sprawling fields alive with flora and fauna. Within its idyllic setting, guests can sample organic local food and wine and relax at the swimming pool and spa, which offers a variety of therapies and beauty treatments. Just over five miles away is the World Heritage Site of Urbino, home to some beautiful Renaissance buildings as well as Palazzo Ducale, housing a collection of significant Italian artworks.
Nestled within the gorgeous countryside near Siracusa on the stunning island of Sicily, the Donna Coraly Resort is a small, luxurious hotel recently restored in a traditional manner using local materials. Breakfast is a feast of homemade breads, pastries and jams, with lunch and dinner also available on request.
