Alexander Wang’s first flagship store launches in London

An iconic designer with a highly regarded reputation in the fashion world, cutting-edge creative Alexander Wang has just launched his first ever store in Europe in the heart of Mayfair, near some of the finest boutique hotels London has to offer with Chic Retreats. Featuring design input from top architects and artists, the brand-new store is set to cement London further as one of the world’s best destinations for high-end fashion shopping.

Wang combines grungy cool with relaxed simplicity to create his trademark ‘off-duty model’ look.

Having opened its doors on August 1, the new store houses the entire collection of Wang’s men’s and women’s ready-to-wear ranges, alongside his T by Alexander Wang, accessories, and Objects range; a number of various items reworked with his signature dark touch.

Designed by architect Vincent van Duysen, the boutique is a conversion of a former post office with a minimal yet high-end aesthetic which perfectly captures Wang’s style. The interior employs a number of unusual materials in its décor, including chrome tubes and recycled rubber, playing a role in creating the mismatch of textures and styles that Wang has become known for. Sculptural works by artists such as Gerard Kuijpers and Ben Storms will also create another artistic exhibition within the exhibition of Wang’s own creative work.

While this is his very first flagship store in Europe, this is in fact one of 24 stores operated by Wang across the world, with each taking Wang’s individual creative direction as a designer another step further, following his parting from fashion house Balancienga.
